1878: Sprague's Hardware
Ready For Business M. A. Sprague is now in his new store, ready to give to his patrons better bargains than ever. He added an elegant stock of silver and plated ware to which especial attention is invited. |
Postmaster Gallup Gets New Store Postmaster Gallup has secured a lease of the store room formerly used by Redfeld's printery, on the corner of Main and Fulton streets. Frank Korna is now engaged in putting the room in proper shape for the removal of the post office from it's present quarters in the Odd Fellows building to this new location. Mr. Gallup is making an effort to have the transfer made on Oct. 1. Owing to the greatly increased business of the Smethport post office, the present quarters are entirely inadequate for post office purposes. The new location is fully double in capacity, and in admirably adapted for post office purposes, and its central location is a feature that will be greatly appreciated by the patrons of the office. Postmaster Gallup is to be congratulated on his good fortune in securing such commodious quarters for the post office It will be a case of going back home again, as the post office during the incumbency of the late M. A. Sprague as postmaster was quartered in this building. |
