City Hall Receives Finishing Touches Bradford Era: September 26, 1883 The new city building is receiving the finishing touches and the furniture will be put in as soon as the structure is received by the Councils from the contractor, George S. Stewart. The city officials will be comfortably installed, and the building, although unpretentious, will no doubt fill every requirement. |
First Offices Taken in City Hall Bradford Era: September 29, 1883 Quantities of furniture were removed to the city building yesterday and several offices will take possession today. City Treasurer McClure expects to be ready for business there this morning and the water commissioners are undergoing the final agony of putting up stove pipe. All matters will hardly be adjusted however until next week, when the Tombs will open its grated doors for the first victim. Councils will meet in the new quarters for the first time Monday. |
