Bear of Klappenbach's
Killed
The killing of Klappenbach's bear yesterday morning
was attended with ceremonies proper to so important an event. Quite
a crowd watched with tender care the last sad hours of his young life draw
to a close, while bruin was posed for lifelike pictures to be labeled "before"
and "after" death. The occasion was a solemn one and not a dry eye
was seen (?). Requiescat in pace -- Port Allegany Reporter, Saturday.
It was unfair taking advantage of "Bismarck's" absence to slaughter the
bear. |
