The Hamlin Township high school was constructed to meet the needs of the fast growing town of Hazel Hurst. It started out as a three year program then in 1933 it moved into a four year. program.  In about 1960 the Hazel Hurst High School was gobbeled up by the move known as consolidation. Now Hazel Hurst students go to the Smethport High  School.
