There remains but one Sunday for the congregation of St. Luke’s to worship in their old building, and the services will be memorable and full of nksgiving. Only twelve years ago the congregation, then a small one, were gratified to leave the upper-room to the old Court House and to enter their pleasant house of worship, the present church, on Fulton Street, little expecting the remarkable growth of their parish and the erection of the splendid stone edifice on Main St., within so short a space of time.

Harmony and prosperity have attended St. Luke’s from its first start as a parish, and the work has been developed quietly and thoroughly. The whole town is interested in the change to be made next week, when the present church will be given up, and the services transferred to the new building. This new church is remarkable as a costly and complete structure, and our town and county can claim to have the finest church building in western Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh. The new church will be consecrate by the Bishop of the Diocese, on Wednesday, September 14th, at 10 a.m. The Rector has given notice that a few seats near the chancel will be reserved on that day for the oldest members of the congregation and other elderly people who may wish to attend. Request is also made that the congregation be in place promptly at the hours named for service, and especially at the Consecration, to be seated and ready for the services at 10 o’clock. Ushers’ will be at the doors at 9:30 to show people to their seats.
