Martin Lawler
was born and educated in New York. He married Miss Mary Costello, also of New York. Mr. Lawler at an early age learned the tanning trade from his father. He has been manager of several tanneries, managing the Port allegany tannery for a number of years. In 1893 when the United States Leather Company was organized he became a bond and stockholder. Mr. Lawler has been a resident of Port allegany for over 20 year. He has raised a large family. The boys have learned the tanning trade from him and the girls are either teaching or acquiring an education. Mr. Lawler is one of our public spirited men and is ever ready to do what he can for Port Allegany.
