Raymond Quinn Died Suddenly
McKean County Democrat
2/1/1940

Raymond M. Quinn, 47, general manager of the Mayburg, Pa., Chemical Company and director of the Manufacturers Charcoal Company, Bradford, passed away after a few hours illness Tuesday evening at Mayburg. Apparently in good health Mr. Quinn’s sudden death comes as a shock to his many friends and business associates in this vicinity.

A native of Quinnwood, Pa., where he was born July 16, 1892, Mr. Quinn attended Prep School at Villanova, Pa., as well as Villianova College.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Quinn of this city and moved to Olean with his parents in 1909. In 1917 he became associated with the T. H. Quinn & Company interests in the chemical and lumber business. He was a member of St. Mary of the Angels’ church and also Olean Council, No. 338, Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Quinn was united in marriage to Miss Margaret McCormick of this city November 23, 1920. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Thomas H. Quinn; a daughter, Miss Jeanne Quinn, this city; two sisters, Mrs. William E. Lennon, this city, and Mrs. Arthur D. Hennessey, Buffalo.

The body has been removed to the family residence, 136 South Union Street. Arrangements for the funeral are not complete.

Friends may call at the home between the hours of three and ten o’clock until the day of the funeral.

Mr. Quinn, who had many friends in Smethport, had visited here on Tuesday.

It is believed that the death of the prominent chemical manufacturer, who had been in poor health for some time past, was partially caused by shock of the news he received last Friday that his daughter, Jeanne, aged 14, had been injured by an automobile in Olean.

Miss Quinn was painfully hurt when she was struck and then dragged along the pavement for nearly a block before the driver became aware of what had happened
