Ethel F. Perry was born in Clermont December 5, 1897, the daughter of Andrew L. and Carrie R Kinney Perry. She grew up in the house still owned by the Perry's, which was built by her father in 1898 on Steinhauer Avenue in Clermont. Wendell Anderson, in his book abouth the Clermont Cemetery, "Under the Trees", notes 'Miss Perry came with the town'. Anyone who went through the Sergeant Township School system probably had Miss Perry, be it the Amend School in 1911, the Kasson School, the Wermwag School, or the Clermont Primary and Intermediate School. Miss Perry had four brothers: Floyd, Erwin, Homer and Robert. Robert was the last station agent on the P.S. and N. Railroad in Clermont, and now lives in Bradford. Her grandfather was Orrin Perry, born in 1816, who had a farm in Kasson.
