After remodeling
the rear portion of the barn, Wolf's expanded another 1000 sq ft in April of
1999. They expanded again
into the upstairs of the barn in October of 1999, adding
a third floor for storage.
According to Mrs. Bernie
Keenan of East Smethport, whose husband and father-in-law worked at the barn
over the years,
the barn was used for many things in it's lifetime. Included
are such things as a machine shop, cow barn, feed supply store,
auction barn, television sales and service store, paint
store, warehouse, petroleum dealership (twice), (office was used for
Witter's Smethport operations), and finally a craft supply
store.
Also, according
to Mrs. Keean and Mr. Richard Tanner, the train use to stop on the Water Street
side to load and unload
feed from the large sliding door (removed in 1999). At
the corner of Hill and Water Street, near the porch, is a railroad tie
showing through the parking lot.
