Roulette Elementary School

The above picture is an air view of the Roulette Elementary
School from the street side in 1961. It was built in 1962 with costs of $266,974
and an area of
14,600 square feet. Total student capacity is 231 students. This small school
well illustrates a design process aimed at creating an informal, colorful, and
cheerful aesthetic continuum pleasing to children; rather than the cold, overpowering
"institution" they are normally required to endure. Aesthetic devices
include small scale of structural components, some playful ornamentation, and
rich color schemes; all appreciably reminiscent of good residential character.
