In 1979 Robert &  Connie Lovell
purchased the Christmas Store from its creator, Leonard Brynoff Johnson, and the Christmas Store became "AMERICA'S FIRST CHRISTMAS STORE".
The store expanded and bus loads of shoppers from throughout the country arrived in Historic Smethport on a regular basis to shop in the Christmas Store" and see the sites of our scenic village tucked away in the Allegheny Highlands.
